Our Story

Pioneering a greener future

African Green Ventures (AGV) was established in 2018 as a renewable energy consultancy to serve Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2022, we became a wholly owned subsidiary of Magnora ASA, a Norwegian renewable energy investment company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, transitioning AGV to a fully-fledged project development company.

Today, as part of the Magnora portfolio, AGV is a Cape Town based renewable energy project development company. We identify and develop utility scale renewable projects that feed electricity into the national grid or direct connected customers.

2019

Provides project development and bidding services.

2020

Expands services to include land rights acquisition for Wind & Solar PV projects.

2021

850MW Wind & PV portfolio sold to Magnora ASA.

2022

2023

First and second project sales completed. Focus shifts to portfolio expansion. 
Sold portfolio capacity: 278 MW

2024

Focus on organisational growth, project sales, and portfolio expansion. 
Sold portfolio capacity: 601 MW

Driving Excellence

Wind Energy

We develop strategically located wind projects to harness South Africa's strong wind resources. Our commitment to quality and sustainable land use accelerates the renewable energy transition, creates local jobs, and supports community development.

Solar PV

We develop Solar PV projects to convert sunlight into electricity, diversify the energy mix, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. These projects can supply the grid and/or private commerce and industry. Our focus on efficiency and minimal environmental impact contributes to a greener, sustainable future.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

We create stand-alone and embedded battery energy storage systems (BESS) that work with wind and solar installations to ensure a stable energy supply. These systems store excess energy generated during low demand to release during peak demand, enhancing grid stability and the reliability of renewable power in South Africa.
