Key

Benefits

We work with farmers to develop projects that add value to the community, ensuring long term benefit for all stakeholders.  Benefits for landowners include —

  • An additional and passive income which starts when construction begins and contributes to your financial security
  • Maximizing revenue from marginal land
  • Job creation which contributes to local economic development and poverty alleviation

Does my land have the potential

to do good green?

To assess whether your land will work for a renewable energy plant, our in-house team of specialists will —

Study

  • the baseline characteristics and geographical potential or constraints of your land in relation to the amount of sun (solar radiation) and wind
  • the regulations, and transmission infrastructure specific to that piece of land.

Based on the study
, evaluate costs, revenue potential, and the next steps for the most financially sensible opportunities.

Land with the potential to do good green:

The next steps

During the feasibility phase, there will be minimal activity and traffic on the potential project site.  Before the environmental specialists conduct the necessary studies, AGV will both establish and abide by an access protocol with the landowner.

No, you will not be able to get electricity from the wind or solar farm because it will be transmitted directly to the national grid.

The Option Agreement is a contract between the landowner and the developer (AGV) to lease your land and develop it.  It sets out that we will be responsible for securing all the permits, permissions and servitudes that will be needed for the successful development and operation of the renewable energy plant.

Yes, during the feasibility phase, you can continue farming, as usual. However, during the construction phase, you will not be able to farm in those areas where construction will take place.

Yes, the developer will work with you to avoid areas that you don’t want developed.

Each solar or wind farm incorporates an on-site substation which increases the voltage. Then the electricity is transmitted to the national grid through overhead transmission lines to the nearest Eskom facility.
